Blog and diary detailing our journey to Ecuador.
Starting back in 2004, a crack team of students from Blenheim High School in Epsom was formed. Only the most adventurous students decided to accept the oppurtunity offered by World Challenge Expeditions. Not all of them made it (to Ecuador).
Students raised the money to fund their expedition individually and as a team, holding car washing events and Discos, Quiz nights and getting Part time jobs. The team planned it’s own itinerary deciding what voluntary projects to get involved with and where to go trekking, and booking this and places to stay.

In a very cold November of 2005, the team went as two groups to Buxton, Yorkshire to take part in traning exercises.
After 2 years of preparation the team of 19 students, 2 teachers and World Challenge facilitator departed for Ecuador in July 2006.
Spending a whole month in Ecuador taking part in community work, whale watching, jungle treks, climbing a volcano, the team bonded and grew as each member had the opportunity to lead the group or take responsibility for different roles such as finance, accommodation, transport etc.
part written by me Garreth while in Ecuador (in internet cafe’s and such), and part written by the team while in Ecuador and later painstakingly typed up much much later.
